DeLane Jones Obituary

DeLane Jones
1943-2015
Juanita DeLane (Joiner) Jones went to be with God on July 23, 2015 after a valiant battle against Melanoma. She was born under a star on July 22, 1943 in Monroe, Louisiana to her deeply loved and inspirational parents, Mabel and Jewel Joiner who she joins in heaven alongside her sister, Gwen Bowen and brother Buddy Joiner.
DeLane is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Nyles Kelley Jones, Sr. and her lucky children - daughter Jodie Jones Eisenhardt, son Kelly Jones, Jr., daughter-in-law Misti Jones, along with adored grandson Jordan Chase Jones, brother Roy Joiner and wife Janie plus a long roster of extended family and friends who she also considered a part of her family. She was truly the most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and teacher of life that we were blessed to have.
A member of the Class of '61 at Sulphur High School in Louisiana, DeLane re-connected with classmate Kelley Jones in Houston two years after graduation. Three months later, the two were married and their romance endured to become a model of devotion in the same way DeLane's parents had been for all who witnessed it.
True partners in life, DeLane inspired Kelley to fulfill his potential in the Petro-Chemical industry, by his side as they ultimately founded two inspection companies. She owned DeLane's Ad Specialties in Deer Park, known for providing the highest standards of service to her clients, serving as a inspirational mentor for all who worked for and with her. She served in various roles with the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce where she made everything a lot more fun. She also served as room mother, team mom, chief fundraiser and any other role she perceived as a way to contribute or help in any way possible with numerous organizations and efforts. DeLane drew tremendous joy doing for others.
Louisiana casinos lost one of their most loyal and successful gamblers. DeLane's favorite hobby was gambling and she was an accomplished card player who competed in the World Series of Poker and she also had a particularly lucky hand at the slots. Another passion was live music. She loved the blues, soul and zydeco music in particular. Her favorite performers included Ian Moore, Delbert McClinton, Freddie Pate, Gene Kelton, Fred Eaglesmith, Kenny Neal, Patty Griffin and Wayne Toups. She is remembered as someone who lived life so fully and in the present, it inspires others to do the same. DeLane's passion for living life to its fullest positively affected every person she met and that will be her legacy. Her keen sense of humor and electric smile will be profoundly missed.
A special thanks to the caring angels and staff at MDAnderson Cancer Center in Houston and the START Facility in San Antonio.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29th from 6 until 8 p.m. at Niday Funeral Home; 6777 Fairmont Pkwy, Pasadena, TX. I'm at a loss for words that express just how sorry I am about DeLane's passing. I was so hoping for a successful outcome. As her daughter expressed "Cancer - you are an evil thief..." She was a beacon of hope and inspiration where ever she would go. May the family find peace and closure and remember her great love for you all.
