Dorothy Ruth Krause
1919-2016
Dorothy was born March 1, 1919, in Dublin, Texas to the late Joseph Thomas Kennedy and Lou Ola Cunningham Kennedy. She graduated from Dublin High School in 1936 and attended Tarelton College in Stephenville,Texas and later, University of Houston.
She was married to the late Arthur Cullen Blevins for 40 years prior to his passing. To this union , 4 children were born. Karen Lou, Valerie, Arthur Cullen Jr., and Chesley Nance.
Dorothy married Walter Thomas Krause on September 24, 1983. They were married 29 years until his death.
Dorothy was a lifetime Methodist and a leader in United Methodist Women locally and statewide for many years. She was an active Garden Club member, Parent Teacher Association leader and Cub Scout Den Mother.
Receiving her Realtor's License in 1976, she worked as a realtor for a number of years.
Dorothy was pre-deceased by two step-grandsons, Eric and Billy Krause, and great grandbaby, Marcus Gonzalez.
She is survived by her four children, Karen Bentsen and husband Niels, Valerie Nies and husband Alan, Art Blevins and wife Nina, Ches Blevins and wife Diann, step-son Tom Krause and wife Judy, also, 13 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Dorothy will be loved and remembered by scores of people because of her smile, her care and compassion for others, her unselfish and loving spirit, her leadership abilities and the joy she gave to all as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, friend, and neighbor.
There will only be a memorial service and it will be Saturday, October 8th, 11:00 AM at Fair Haven United Methodist Church, 1330 Gessner Rd., Houston, TX 77055.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fair Haven United Methodist Church or
El Salvador Mission
