1957-2015
Douglas Allen Samuelson, age 57, died Tuesday, the 24th of March 2015. Douglas was born on the 10th of December 1957 in Ashland, WI to Roger and Audrey Samuelson. He received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin River Falls in 1980 and his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1983. After graduation he went on to practice law in the Houston area. Doug had a passion for cruising and traveling that he shared with his beautiful family. He was a devout Minnesota Twins and Green Bay Packers fan. Doug is preceded in death by his father Roger. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Judith, and children Rebecca and Jordan Richmond, and Matthew, grandson Bennett Richmond. Mother Audrey Samuelson; siblings: Eileen Engels ,Glen, Roslyn, Terri Carlson and their familes..
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6-8pm on Friday, March 27, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 14054 Space Center Blvd. in Houston, 77062.
The Funeral Service will commence at 10:30 in the morning on Saturday, March 28, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 14054 Space Center Blvd. in Houston, 77062.
Interment will follow at Mt Olivet, 7801 Gulf Freeway in Dickinson.
Gifts in Doug's memory may be directed to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Dear Samuelson Family, Doug was a classmate and moot court partner during law school at the University of Houston. He always underplayed his talent, saying he couldn't argue his way out of a paper sac, but he had a mind and gift for litigation. It was an honor to work with him during those years. We did not keep up contacts after law school and it is with surprise and sadness that I learned of his passing just today. Judy, I am so very sorry for your loss. He cared for you and his family so deeply. Please accept my sincerest sympathies.

I grew up next door to the Samuelson family in Superior, WI in the 1960s. While I never had brothers or sisters, the Samuelsons always seemed like my brothers and sisters to me. As kids we had the greatest clubs in our neighborhood. Doug was the natural born leader of most of them. We also had some of coolest snow forts in the city! I remember one time we all made a neighborhood newspaper and sold it for 2 cents a copy (I think Doug was the editor because he was the only one who could spell!). We probably sold a total of 3 handwritten copies! Those days were the best... It was a sad day today hearing that he has passed. I am so sorry for your loss, Mrs. Samuelson, Eileen, Glenn, Rosie and Terrie. And to Doug's family, please take care...

My deepest sympathies to the Samuelson family. I worked with Doug at Reynolds Allen & Cook many years ago. He was a fine man and a very good attorney. He will be missed.
