E. Gordon Obituary
1927-2015
E. Forbes Gordon passed away on Dec 4, 2015 in Katy Texas at the age of 88.
He was born June 11, 1927 in Beaumont, Texas to Harry Gordon and Georgia Comfort Gordon. After graduating from Rice University he began his career as a Licensed Petroleum Engineer with Texaco Inc. from 1948-1963. From 1963 to 1968 he worked for Coastal States Gas as Manager of Operations and later as VP of Drilling and Production reporting directly to Oscar Wyatt. In mid 1968 he founded Tartan Resources Corp. as an Independent Oil Operator and consultant and other subsidiary companies semi-retiring in 1988.
He was a Life Time Committee Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, also being a longtime donor and member of the Calf Scramble Committee. Forbes' greatest passion was his love of Airedales. He was co-founder of the ATCA Hunting and Working Group for Airedales. Forbes also co-founded the Texas Airedale Club. As a breeder he bred top Airedale's including multiple winners for Best in Show, also including BIS by a Wire Fox Terrier at Westminster KC.
Forbes is survived by his wife Carol Scott Gordon and sons John Gordon and Ken Gordon, four grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces ad nephews.

Dave Bartran (my dad) and Forbes first met while working for the Texas Oil Company, dad play football at LSU, against Rice Univ. prior to WWIl. Forbes and Dad could talk for hours over the years. Forbes stayed busy in later years with his microgravity surveys of oil fields. An amazing fellow. I graduated from Rice too!

Did not know Forbes passed away until today -- tried to call him and check on him - only to find his mobile number no longer good. I had a lot of respect for Forbes, and actually enjoyed our talks ---- you are missed.
