Eddie Fresquez Obituary

Edward Joseph Fresquez, 73 years old, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014 surrounded by family at St. Luke's Hospital in the Texas Medical Center of Houston. His unwavering faith in God, the love shared by many family and friends, and his strong will to live allowed him to enjoy 16 years of additional life after the gift of a liver transplant. Eddie was born on March 16, 1941 in Douglas, Wyoming to Chris and Faye Fresquez. The middle child of 11 children, a close-knit and loving family.
After struggling with drug addiction and years spent in and out of prison in his youth, Ed was given a chance to turn his life around through the Cenikor Foundation. Here he met his wife, Lynda Fresquez (Gentile). After graduating from the program, Ed continued to work for Cenikor for 36 years eventually becoming President. After receiving social work credentials from Metropolitan State College of Denver, he attended Rice University to further his skills in business management. Ed was instrumental in mentoring thousands of Cenikor graduates through their own struggles to overcome addiction and maintain sobriety successfully.
His joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Lynda Fresquez (Gentile), his son, Matthew Fresquez and daughter-in-law Megan, his daughter, Natalie Hodge (Fresquez) and son-in-law Andrew, and three grandsons Matthew, Hunter, and Ethan. He is survived by numerous other beloved family members.
A celebration of Eddie's life will be held on Saturday, June 21st at 2:00 pm for all family and friends. Services will be held at Grand Parkway Baptist Church in Richmond, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to Life Gift or the Cenikor Foundation.

The world lost a great man with Eddie's passing. I know he is with the Angels. I'm a Cenikor Graduate and I worked for Eddie for many years. He was always very kind and treated all with respect and love. My husband and I will always remember Eddie. God Bless his soul and his family

...During the 1970's when I was chair of the board of Cenikor - Eddie was the one person there I could depend on to provide me with guidance so I could lead making informed decisions.
...The world is infinitely better for having had Eddie in it!
