Edmund Blumenthal Obituary

EDMUND W. "BILL" BLUMENTHAL 4-21-25 - 2-19-04. Born in Galveston, TX. Moved to Houston at age 2. Attended Houston Public Schools. After graduating from high school, Bill went to A&M for a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Army at age 17. He served his country proudly and was a veteran of "The Battle of the Bulge". After his army service, Bill returned to Houston and enrolled at U of H from which he graduated with an engineering degree. Towards the end of his college years, Bill met his wife of 43 years, Jean Theresa. They married on October 1, 1949 and lived in Houston until Bill's retirement from Reed Rock Bit Co. after 30 years of service at which time they moved to Brenham, TX where he died peacefully at home surrounded by his children. Bill was a man of great faith in his God. A man who gave his all for his wife and family. He loved the outdoors and was an expert class marksman with rifle and pistol. With a shotgun, he was a great natural wingshot who was at his best on live birds. After retiring, he took 50 acres east of Brenham and turned it into a beautiful place capable of grazing 30 mother cows. This 50 acres was the realization of his dreams and is a monument to his memory. Preceded in death by his parents, Edmund W. and Pearl Hardwick Blumenthal, wife, Jean Theresa Blumenthal. Survived by children, E. W. Blumenthal, Jr., Jeanell Love, H.A. Blumenthal. Grandchildren, Arin Love and William A. Blumenthal. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Father Curt Lanzrath officiating. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Brenham Hospice of Multiple Sclerosis Society. Brenham Memorial Chapel 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, TX 979/836-3611
