Ellen Zimmern Obituary

ELLEN LOUISE RYAN ZIMMERN, age 84, passed away on September 15, 2025. Ellen was born on August 13, 1941. Ellen began her career as a licensed Dental Hygienist, graduating from the UT Houston program in 1961. Ellen married Klaus W.G. Zimmern on May 31, 1979, and they remained happily married until his death on May 12, 1999. In 1984, she entered a full-time real estate career with her husband. An ambitious professional woman, Ellen earned her license as a Texas Real Estate Broker on June 16, 1988, and gained an excellent reputation in Houston. eventually took the helm, and became the president and owner of Century 21 A. Klaus and Associates on 13,110 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.
Ellen later transferred her real estate
business to John Daugherty Realtors, and ultimately retired on August 31, 2012. After a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, Ellen died peaceably in her sleep. She is survived by her two step-sons, Kenneth Andrew Zimmern, an attorney in Houston, and Ronald Curtis Zimmern, a radiological technologist in Johnson City, Tennessee; step-grandchildren Ronald C. Zimmern, Jr. and Stephanie Annette Zimmern Riffle and her husband Dustin Riffle; and friend Dr. James R. Reed. Preceding her in death was her close friend by marriage Annette Zane Wacks Zimmern-Reed who passed in
2012. Memorial service will be at Emanu El Memorial Park at 8341 Bissonnet, Houston, Texas
77074 at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025. Ellen will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Klaus. Donations may be made to the Holocaust Museum of Houston or a charity of your choice.
