Mr. Cornell was a very special person in both of my parents lives as well as mine. He might have been a PGA touring pro had he wanted to be. God speed Mr. Cornell and thoughts and prayers to Mrs. Cornell, Dave, Chris, Brian and Kathy.

Jan, Eric was a great golfing friend while all of us enjoyed the Waterwood club/coarse and I have lots of fond memories from the MGA tournaments, club parties, get togethers at various houses. He was a very sharp guy, very good serious athlete/golfer and really a grinder on the course. I intended to get to the Memorial service but family issues at Waterwood, we're selling the place after all these years, made it impossible. I do remember talking to Eric some years ago after he had some type of serious health issue and he sounded very positive about the outcome and apparently he's had lots of additional years with you and the family. I hope you are doing as well as can be expected after this tough loss and I know your family are taking good care of you. Jim and Alice Sirois

Dear Jan,

A wonderful, decent, talented and unforgettable man has left us. You know that so much better than any of us. I enjoyed Erics friendship at Case while we were undergrads together. And then for decades with him as my broker. It did not stop there. We would span the miles between Ohio, Texas and California when I came to visit you in Houston and Eric made his nearly annual trip to the California desert to play expertly in golf tournaments. We always got together for dinner on those occasions.

Our phone conversations became shorter and they stopped entirely a couple of years ago. I could no longer reach the phone number I had for you both. This was a familiar and dreaded pattern I had seen before when friends and relatives succumbed to the ills of advancing age. Unfortunately, I was not in Texas where I might have personally inquired around and discovered what was actually happening. All that is behind us now, and I am fortunate to be able to remember Eric as his vital self.

My heart goes out to you as you cope with Erics physical absence. I hope your children and your loving memories of Eric sustain you every day from now on. He remains in my thoughts every day, too.

Your friend and Erics,

Bob Saber
