Frances Duperier Obituary

Frances (Toni) Duperier
03/19/1944 - 12/09/2024
Frances (Toni) Anthony Walsh Duperier passed away peacefully in The Woodlands, Texas on Monday, the 9th of December 2024. She was 80 years of age.
Born in Houston, Texas on the 19th of March 1944, to James Anthony Walsh and Harriet Atwood Brady Walsh. Toni was a proud 5th generation Texan through her lineage to General Sidney Sherman, credited with the battle cry "Remember the Alamo" during his capture of Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto.
Toni was married to Henry Anthony Duperier for 47 years. Over the course of their marriage, they resided in Houston, San Antonio, and The Woodlands. Toni was the "hostess with the mostest", who loved to cook and entertain her family and friends at the drop of a hat with such ease, grace, and attention to detail. Her greatest joy and pleasure were caring and doing for others - always putting others above herself.
Toni graduated from The Kinkaid School and The University of Texas.
Her philanthropic spirit, generosity, and hosting abilities were exemplified by catering and interior design, as well as her service at Methodist Hospital, The Junior League of Houston and San Antonio, the Garden Club of Houston, St. Martin's Episcopal Church, St. Michael's Catholic Church, and the Houston SPCA. She was a member of The Assembly and the Houston Racquet Club.
In addition to being devoted to Henry, she treated all her stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces and nephews as her own children with love, gifts of feeling special and adored, a cute smile, and the most impressive facial expressions. She introduced them to convertibles, sleepovers, classic movies, Mexican food and margaritas, impromptu mustache wearing, and traveling to various countries. She had plenty of "leftover" love for her loyal dogs over the years!
Toni is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Henry, and her sisters, Chaille Walsh Latham, Sidney Walsh Brown (Lew), Harriet Walsh Freeman (Tim). Her brother-in-law, Frank Duperier and his wife, Bitsy, and sister-in-law Joni Duperier. She is survived by her stepchildren Henry Duperier (Elizabeth) and their children: Harvey and Katherine; Elizabeth Duperier Yates (Scott) and their children: Margaux, Dorsey, and Sam; Chris Duperier (Courtney) and their children: Ford and Sadie. Toni is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, as well as lifelong friends. She was adored and loved by all who met her.
A memorial service celebrating Toni's life will be January 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Trinity Episcopal Church, The Woodlands, TX. In lieu of flowers, for those desiring, contributions can be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center or the Houston SPCA or the charity of your choice.

What a fantastic friend and childhood neighbor on Chilton Road. Toni and I have kept up over the years and enjoyed exchanging fond memories of our youth. Here's an excerpt from her happy birthday note to me last September (she'd never forget my Bday) "Oh, for the good old days - so lucky we had them and our fantastic families, neighbors and friends!  And, we still have the fantastic  memories and neighbors and friends.  I could not ask for more than that!!!!
