Francisco Cevallos Obituary

Francisco M. Cevallos, age 84, passed away at his home at sunrise on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife of 49 years, Esperanza Cevallos, and his devoted daughters. Francisco was born on March 12, 1940, to Fanny Enriqueta Cadena and Francisco Manuel Cevallos Avilés in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Of Jesuit formation, he consecrated his life to Jesus and was ordained in 1971 in the Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús in Quito, Ecuador. Later, he married Esperanza in 1975 and raised her six children. Of their union, Cristina Magdalena Cevallos was born in 1976, and Alexandra Sabrina Cevallos was born in 1982. He lived his priesthood every day of his life through his actions of love and service to his fellow human beings. He pastored and studied in Ecuador, Mexico, Spain, Chicago, Belgium, New Jersey, and Houston.
To mourn him, he leaves behind his wife, Esperanza Cevallos, and eight children: Cira E. Orquera, Maritza E. Orquera, Jimmy R. Orquera (Gabriela), Dalilah A. Pakosh (Chris), Edison E. Orquera, Juan F. Orquera (Sonia), Cristina M. Egberts (George), and Alexandra S. Villamar (Gustavo). He also leaves 17 grandchildren: Valeria C. Montero, Kevin G. Montero, Carlos D. Pazmino, Ana L. Pazmino, Leslie I. Pazmino, Liseth O. Haydar, Gabriela O. Fitzgerald, Jimmy D. Orquera, Christian R. Pakosh, Justin F. Pakosh, Emily A. Orquera, Matthew Orquera, Byron M. Orquera, George G. Egberts III, Kayla M. Egberts, Jeremy D. Egberts, and Victoria A. Villamar; 12 great-grandchildren; seven siblings: Carmen Coto, Manuel Cevallos, Antonio Cevallos, Maria Dolores Cevallos, Maria Aurora Cevallos, Rafael Cevallos, and Ricardo Cevallos; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends and parishioners.
A public visitation for Father Francisco M. Cevallos will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hernandez Funeral Home, 13623 Perry Rd., Houston, TX 77070, followed by a mass at 3:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Matthew, 9101 Airline Dr., Houston, TX 77037.
