I am a little late with my condolences, but they are extremely sincere and heart felt. Judge Evans was like family. My mother's entire career with Concerned Teens as Director (Shirley Victoria Schear), Dispute Resolution teacher, and the Ingrando House development, was alongside with Judge Evans. He even married me and my first husband back in 1978 at Memorial Park in Houston. Judge Evans was an endearing male figure in our lives. My Mom (who passed in 2017) was so blessed to have him as her mentor, supervisor, and team member of dispute resolution in Houston's school system, while she worked one on one with teens turning their lives around. My Mom cherished her job over the decades until retirement, because of working with those teens (which she so loved) and because of Judge Evans' knowledge, compassion, and his entire demeanor. He was everything that John Platt described above. The world definitely lost a gentle giant, and I am sad that he has passed. One thing I will always remember, are the many many books that he read. He was an avid reader and knowledge seeker. My heartfelt condolences go out to his dear sweet wife Elizabeth, his children Richard and Margaret, his grandchildren, and the rest of his loving family. Peace.

Legal scholar, innovator, role model, with a singular ability to win you over with a few kind words. Frank Evans could relate to anyone regardless of their background. One was always comfortable with him and he was genuinely interested in everyone he met. Beneath his intellect and and professionalism there was the Frank Evans who never grew up as evidenced by his sense of humor and mischievous side. A true gift that made us all love him. I have never known a finer man.

My deepest condolences to the Evans family. Although I am not a Texas native, I knew Frank for over 35 years. We became acquainted through his work at the American Bar Association. He was a giant in the ADR field not only in Texas but also at the national level. He was one of my mentors. As President and Dean of South Texas College of Law, I recall asking Frank if we could use his name in connection with our Conflict Resolution Center. Ever the gentleman, he responded that he would be honored. I will always be grateful to Frank for allowing our legacy to be joined with his.

My condolences to the family. Frank was a mentor and friend to me. I met him as young pup in the ADR World. He treated me with respect and listened to me. Throughout the years I have had many chances to interact act with him, and he has made me a better person and mediator. I am blessed to have known him. The picture is of Frank receiving the 2016 Texas Mediator Credentialing Association Outstanding Credentialed Mediator Award that I was fortunate to have been able to present to him. JP Palmer

Frank made a huge difference in Bastrop County, bringing mediation skills to many and changing how conflicts are resolved in our County. Frank taught me mediation through his educational program and supported me when I started up the Bastrop County Mediation Association. My prayers and thoughts are with Elizabeth and the rest of his family.

Frank Evans was the best father-in-law this hot headed girl could ever have. We were both working on major projects, me in the Houston dance scene and he in ADR. He showed me that when you were trying to get people to do what they didn't want to do or didn't think would work, they would follow you if you stayed honest, transparent and showed your passion and commitment for helping others. It worked for both of us. Frank was also the best grandfather we could have wanted for our girls What other man would fling open the door on Easter morning dressed all in white, wearing bunny ears and pronouncing," I buried all the eggs. Ready to find them?" The girls usually had their Easter baskets ready and all went out into his huge backyard to find the 50 million eggs that he and Elizabeth had prepared for them. The girls were still following this tradition in high school. They adored him and he adored them. What wonderful memories he has left for us.

I also remember Mr. Evans (and Richard, of course) from his service to Troop 55. As I recall, he was firm, but soft-spoken, and showed enormous patience. While implementing effective ways to help scouts' individual achievements, he also led by his quiet and principled example. It was inspiring to read of all he achieved during his life.

Mr. Evans was the Scoutmaster of Troop 55 when I became a Boy Scout in 1966. He was tough, but fair and he taught the members of our troop many good lessons. The most important lesson he taught us was "Be Prepared". Condolences to Richard and the rest of the family.
