Frank Patrick Vecera was born March 15, 1941 to Frank and Frances Vecera in East Bernard, TX. The youngest of five children he grew up on a farm near the community of Hungerford, TX. After learning he disliked milking cows and picking cotton, Frank enrolled in Wharton County Junior College where he completed an Associates degree. He then completed a Bachelors degree from Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas (Texas A&M) and later a certificate from The School of Banking of the South. After a couple of years traveling the Texas panhandle as a cement salesman, Frank found his calling as a banker at Citizens State Bank as one of John Selman's "boys". Frank started as an Assistant Cashier and rose to the position of Senior Vice President. He absolutely adored the people of the Bank. Frank would retire from the bank after 45 years of service to the community in 2010 after his cancer diagnosis.

Frank had a remarkable capacity to serve others. As a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy, Frank along with Leroy Zapalac coached for the Sealy Bluejays (the Sealy Catholic school), taught classes in the CCD, scripture reader during Mass, song leader during Mass, served on committees, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. As a resident of Sealy Frank served his community as a JayCee, Rotarian, City Council member, volunteer ambulance ECA, Sealy Salvation Army leader, RAP (Raising Academic Performance) mentor, Gordon Memorial Library board President, school mentor to kids, and many other civic events and organizations. As a father Frank was slow to anger and abounding in love. Whether it was trumpet practice in the house, electric guitar blasting from the bedroom, games, concerts, scouts, dinners, dates, or anything else, Frank supported and loved his sons with an unconditional heart.
"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." Eph 5:31
Perhaps Frank's greatest joy was the love of his life for 43 years. May Belle Means was born in Baton Rouge, La. A Southern Belle who did not know how to make kolaches, she won Frank's heart on their first date. After deciding to marry after their first month together, they became one on April 21, 1968. Raising two boys, Carter and Thomas, and five miniature schnauzers, Fritz, Felix, Bentley, Mitsy, and Charlie-Mac, their's is a love story of total devotion, complete faithfulness, with honor and respect.
Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. -Lam 3:21-23
Along with his father Frank and his mother Frances, Frank is preceded in death by his brother Constant and wife Mildred. Frank is survived by his wife May Belle, his son Carter, Carter's wife Kelli and their sons Paul and John, his son Thomas and Thomas' wife Rani, his sister Sylvia and her husband Leonard Preisler, his sister LaVerne Smolik and her companion Jay Stewart, his sister Bernadette and her husband Roy Champiomont, his sister in law Cherry Davis, his sister in law Camille and her husband David Cassidy, and his brother in law Hugh Means.
To all of the wonderful people at the bank who he so dearly loved, to all of the wonderful people of Sealy that he served, to all who cared for him during his life, particularly Shirley Joiner, on behalf of Frank we, his family, would like to thank you.

Frank I certainly appreciate the friendship bond we developed many years ago while at PVAMU and then my move to Tuskegee Alabama. I will always remember the visits to the bank and our wonderful BBQ lunches.
