I'm sure the Chipster would appreciate the renewed and well-deserved interest in his legacy. He was one of a kind from beginning to end, and one can only imagine what kind of amazing antics he and Mark Lester and all of our other Kinkaid buddies are up to in the next life!

To Emily, Elizabeth and family,

I will never get over how much Chip was a bright star in everyone's life. He was so accomplished and talented in so many ways. It's hard to believe that all that he went through with cancer, Alzheimer's and I'm sure other health ailments took him away too soon.

As the holidays approach, I hope you have a bright star displayed somewhere in remembrance of the bright Star he was to all the lives he touched. If he had only known what a light he was in this world, it might not have grown dim, but disease doesn't only take all that it can from the person diseased, but it tries to take out the whole family.

May his Star always be bright and remembered as I remember him in the very little time I got to know him. I know Katherine will never forgot how he lit up a room and touched her life.

God's love is limitless and never stops giving. May you and your family have a Bright Holiday, Christmas and New Year with that in mindnn

Met you as an awkward teenager who spent a lot of time over three years with Chip(per): those days/nights were golden.

Experience is the ultimate teacher, so I'd just like to say as obviously dynamic, intelligent, and talented Chipper was/is, he benefited greatly from your care over him, and love for him.

Rest Well.

Hi Elizabeth- this is Jim Forsyth. My wife Mary was with Will Weiner in Aspen and she told me the sad news. I will always remember my First City days and Chip was always a mentor to me! I also remember you in the training program. Our prayers go out to you and your family. God bless!

Elizabeth and family,
That your loved one, Chip, is no longer with you in body I feel certain that he is still with you in Spirit and will be for years to come. I always thought of him as such a 'neat man' and was very honored to have him in the worship service.
I am sorry that I was not able to attend the service on Wednesday but we had you in our thought and prayers ever since we heard of his passing. May you be comforted in the sure and certain knowledge that he is now in the presence of our ever gracious and loving Lord.
May He bless each of you as you adjust to him not being with you physically.
All our love and concern to you all.

Chip was one of the first people I met at First City when I interviewed in 1978. I remember that he always had a positive attitude especially during the dark days.

I will always recall fondly Chip's many kindnesses to me as a new student to Kinkaid in 1966 when the Webster house became a frequent home away from home for me after classes ended each day.

Chip had many great qualities, but his generosity and empathy for others may have been the most typical.

Rest In Peace Good Buddy.

Chip was one of my Kinkaid buddies who went on to become the president of the Houston Petroleum Club, and was instrumental in getting me involved when I joined that club a few years ago. I never knew that his dad had a drilling company or that Chip spent his summers working there, but it doesn't surprise me. There was an amazing spirit of anything is possible that the old schoolers had that you don't see very often anymore. Basically they made things happen whether it had ever been done before or not, and that's what made them great. No discussion of making America great again is possible without including the contributions of Texas oil men, and Chip was definitely the real deal. He will be missed.

My favorite memory of Chip comes from a story my mom told me. One Christmas "back in the day", Cabbage Patch Kids were the hot item Christmas gift for kids and they were nearly impossible to get. Of course, my own father, a dear friend of Chip's, had no idea what they were, nor would he EVER consider standing in line outside of a toy store for hours on end to buy me one, the way some parents were. Of course, I wanted one, but I would never even dream of asking, as I knew it wouldn't happen. Well, Chip somehow had a contact who was able to get him two and he jumped at the chance, called my father and offered him one, promising him that I would be thrilled. My father agreed to buy it and I was both incredibly surprised and overjoyed to open my red-haired doll, Ruth, on Christmas morning! (Thank you, Chip, for that special Christmas memory!) Chip was thoughtful, kind, resourceful and wise. And he leaves a legacy in his beautiful family that is loving, honorable and faith-filled.

Dear Elizabeth,
The messages and emails from the FCNB alumni network demonstrate both the love and respect we all had for Chip. He was one of a kind. He was our mentor, our leader and friend. There are so many memories of him chomping on his cigars, carefully writing memos and best for me are the thoughts of how we worked together on the United Way campaign which ignited my work in the non-profit area. Terrell and I are thinking of you and your family and hope to see you in the not too distant future. Jim & Terrell Falk

Elizabeth, I grieve to hear of Chip's death. His life touched many others, and so you must know you have a wealth of friends on whom to lean for support and through whom to share the burden of sorrow. The world is lessened for his departure and I am proud to have called Chip a friend of mine.
