GABRIEL REYES Obituary

GABRIEL EUDELIO REYES, 42, born October 16, 1967 went home to be with Our Lord on January 23, 2010. Gabriel was born in El Paso, Tx. He attended Andress H.S. where he played baseball, graduating in 1986. Gabriel moved to Houston, TX. immediately following H.S. where he met and married the love of his life, Marcy, in 1990. He had a great career with Union Pacific for 16 years. Gabriel was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend and he was representative of the very best: love, strength, courage, sacrifice, dignity, faith and a strong commitment to his family and friends. Gabriel portrayed a rough and tough exterior that was always dissolved by his kindness and his big heart. His sense of humor was like no other. He was our comedian, our clown and our prankster and his power to create laughter through havoc will be greatly missed. Gabriel will find comfort with our angels who have preceded him in death, father Eudelio "Lalo" Reyes and Brothers; Jose Adan Reyes and Gilbert H. Reyes. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Maricela, his pride and joy, son Jonathan (JR) and daughter Sabrina, mother Nora H. Reyes (Alpine native), sister Fay Davis, brother Michael Reyes, parent-in-laws, Alfonso G. Garza and Elena M. Garza and numerous loving brother and sisters-in-law. Gabriel is also leaving behind numerous loving nieces, nephews and countless friends. If love could have saved him, he would have lived forever. We love you Gabriel! The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday, January 27, 2010, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at St Edward Catholic Church, 2601 Spring Stuebner Rd, Spring, TX, 77389 followed by a rite of committal at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.

We will sincerley miss Gabe in our household. Your family has always been part of ours and Gabe has always been like a second father to my kids. We have to know that he is with his brothers that he has missed greatly and that is the way we will get thru this. Know that our prayers are with you and the kids and that we will always be there for you all in your time of need. We had a lot of fun times and many a good laugh when we were around Gabe and that was a lot. We, especially Bob have lost a great friend in deed.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Gabriel and I graduated from Andress High the same year. Gabriel was always one of the "good guys". He carried a fire in his heart, and he was a true friend. He will truly be missed, and I believe those that he loved will forever be in his heart, as he will always be in the heart of those whose lives he touched. May God bless him, and keep him close. Named for an angel... he truly was one here on earth.

It was always a pleasure to work on the same crew as Gabe.
Gabe and his wonderful sense of humor always made the time on duty go a little faster.
I could always tell from our conversations that Gabe was truly a dedicated Husband and Father.
May God bless and keep your family in these trying times.

I first met Gabriel and his family when he was just about 15 years old through his brother Gilbert. Although time passed and we all went our own way, the one thing I always remembered was the deep, sincere love they all had for each other. Their love and dedication for each other and their parents was one of a kind. I have no doubt in my heart that Gabriel loved his wife and children with a love just as fierce. Know that his love will continue to protect each of you until such a time that you will meet again. My heart pains for the loss of your husband, father and brother. God bless you.

Psalms 23.

Our deepest and sincere sympathies to Marcy, Jonathan and Sabrina. My memory of Gabriel is when he would bring Sabrina to her class at Greengate. She was three I believe. He was always quiet and polite. Much later, I got to know the real Gabriel. When he would go get his haircut at Great Clips. Such a clown. Would always give us a hard time about giving him a bad haircut. We were blessed in knowing him.
Let us celebrate his life. God Bless you Marcy and your children.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Marcy, JR, Sabrina and extended family. Although we have never met I can truly relate to the type of person Gabe was. Your husband/father and I were blessed to cross paths while he was at Andress High School playing baseball. Even back then he was the practical jokester. He had his baseball picture taken in his uniform wearing cowboy boots and being next to his good friends - Nacho and Johnny. I'm having that picture sent to you in case you don't have it. Also if my memory serves me right Gabe hit the game winning home run against Coronado HS to help us win our first district championship. I will forever be blessed with the great memories that Gabe brought to me and his teammates.
Take care and may God Bless all of you through this very difficult time. - Coach

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
