Gary Dds Obituary
08/20/1955 - 03/16/2025
Gary A. Hilsher, DDS, went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2025, after a long battle with bone cancer.
Gary grew up in southwest Houston and attended Strake Jesuit and the University of St. Thomas. He graduated from UT School of Denistry in Houston and UT Southwestern (orthodontics).
Gary practiced family dentistry in Sugarland, TX for many years and was very close to his outstanding staff whom he treated as family. Gary loved traveling with family and close friends and his favorite trips involved his 80 cruises. When Gary retired he moved to the family homestead in New Waverly, TX and enjoyed beekeeping, gardening, and managing 21 acres.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, V. J. Hilsher, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Hilsher. He is survived by his brother, V. J. "Jay" Hilsher, Jr.; and wife, Denise; nephews, Michael Hilsher (wife Sarah, son Major), Christopher Hilsher, Austin Kluth (wife Sheila, sons Ben and Max); as well as numerous first cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Joseph Church, 101 Elmore Street, New Waverly, TX 77358-4105. A celebration of Gary's life will be held at a date and location to be determined.

Gary the cruises we went on as a group with Shane, Dane, Greg and yourself was some of the most enjoyable times of my life. You were an amazing man I was blessed to have met and interacted with you!

I am saddened to learn of Gary's death. His brother, Jay Hilsher and I worked together thirty years ago as petroleum land men. I wish to extend my wishes to Gary's family and Jay for peace and acceptance.
