George Harrison Reid
1945-2022
George Harrison Reid passed peacefully at Methodist Hospital on Sunday, February 13th with family by his side after a hard fought battle with Cancer. George was born in Hickory, North Carolina on March 6, 1945 to Harrison Fuller Reid and Elizabeth Bowman Reid. He was the second child of five brothers and sisters Sara, Stuart, Elizabeth and Joan. He received his B.B.A from the University of Mississippi in 1968. After graduating he moved to Houston, Texas where he started a family and a successful commercial real estate investment company and was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church until his health declined.
George was preceded in death by his parents, brother Stuart and sister Sara. He is survived by his beloved son George Harrison (Harris) Reid, Jr. and his wife Sally Haugh Reid of Houston, Texas; daughter Allison Reid Ash and her husband David Ash of San Antonio, Texas; as well as their mother Barbara Reid and his grandchildren Jack Reid, Margaret Reid and John Ash. He is also survived by his Aunt Peggy Jo Hefner of Dalton, Georgia; his sisters Joan Propst of Hickory, North Carolina; Libby Keenan and her daughters Kathleen and Elizabeth all of Houston, Texas; Nephews Wesley Reid and Darrin Reid both of Hickory, North Carolina and William Fairchild of Leesville, Louisiana.
There will be a visitation held for family and friends at the Bradshaw-Carter Memorial & Funeral Services in Houston, Texas on Tuesday February 22nd from 5-7 PM and a small graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery on Wednesday February 23rd at 11 AM.
He will be missed greatly by his family but they are comforted in knowing he is with the Lord in Heaven and all his friends and family who have gone before him.
