Our beloved matriarch passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19th, 2025, at age 98. She will be missed by all her family. She was born to Frank G. and Sophie (Jasek) Olsovsky in 1926 near Wallis, Texas, as the 4th of 7 children. They moved to the Praha area when she was 11 years old. She has many memories of farm life, some good, some bad. She later moved to Houston where she met and married Louis E. (Joe) Matusek. After having their 5 children, Georgia helped Joe start a new air conditioning and heating business, Care Service Company, where she served as secretary from 1970- 2005. They were Charter Members of St. Jerome Catholic Church in west Houston. After Joe's death in 1999, she attended daily Mass and led the Rosary.
She was predeceased by her parents and all siblings except her youngest brother Ben Olsovsky, her husband of 51 years Joe Matusek, 2 sons, David and Don Matusek, and a great-grandchild Penelope Steele. She is survived by 3 children and spouses: Louis F. (Jeannine) Matusek of La Grange, TX, Jackie (James) Chude of Fredericksburg TX and Jimmie Matusek of Houston. Also a daughter-in-law, Judy Matusek (David's widow) of Hempstead. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
She left us her strong beliefs in God, family, hard work, laughter and love of good food, especially kolaches.
Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2025 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Drive, Houston, Texas 77080. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass being celebrated at 10:00 a.m. The Rite of Committal will be in Houston National Cemetery.
