Gerald L. Shroff

The world lost a very precious man on January 15, 2003. GERALD L. SHROFF died peacefully after a long and difficult battle with cancer that he fought with courage and faith. Gerald was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma April 9, 1929 to Okla Mae Barker Shroff and Leonard Henry Shroff. The family moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1939. Gerald's education continued through his graduation from Rice University on June 1, 1951. The next day he married Margaret (Marty) Reeves on June 2, 1951. He then served in the U.S. Air Force as First Lieutenant for five years. His professional years were spent with Eastern States Petroleum, Signal Oil and Gas, TRW Computers and Bonner & Moore Associates, Inc. At Bonner & Moore he acted in many roles including consultant, Manager of Management Science for the European Subsidiary and President of Bonner & Moore Consulting Services. He retired as Chief Financial Officer of Bonner & Moore after 26 years of loyal employment to establish his own business, GLS & Associates, a Third Party Administrator of defined contribution plans. Gerald is survived by his wife of almost fifty-two years Margaret Reeves Shroff, their children: John Shroff, Jerry and Beth Shroff and Jennifer and Ray Pendley and their grandchildren: Ashley and Emily Shroff, Lindsey and Chelsey Shroff and Zachary and Benjamin Pendley. Also beloved to Gerald were Richard Gray, family friend whom Gerald loved like a brother, Cebe Sue (Suzi) Jones, who lived with the family in Germany, special friends of Bill W., and extended family and friends in Houston, San Antonio, Saledo, Nederland, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Hayden, Alabama. Gerald felt God's presence in his life through the love of family and friends. Gerald's finest gifts to all who shared his life included his unconditional love, acceptance, humor, servanthood, integrity, selflessness and, most important, his faith. He will be sorely missed, but his memory will continue to witness and inspire us. A Memorial Service will be held this Sunday, January 19th at 4:00 PM at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, at 11140 Greenbay, in Houston. It will be led by Dr. Jim Jackson, Reverend Wick Stuckey and Reverend Matt Russell. A reception for visitation will follow.
