Gordon Hughes Obituary

Gordon Hughes, a former Houston resident, passed away peacefully at his home in New Braunfels on March 18, 2024. Gordon was born May 7, 1948, in Ft. Lewis, Wash., to Joe G. Hughes and Daphne May Knight. He grew up in Copperas Cove, Texas where his father was stationed at Ft. Hood, now known as Ft. Cavazos, and graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1966. In Houston, Gordon was Real Estate Manager of the Fleming Company, and later was active in real estate development in Houston, Austin, and New Braunfels. Gordon is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virginia Keys Hughes; stepson, Jeffrey S. Dickerson (Julie); grandson, Ben Harper Dickerson; granddaughter, Georgia Claire Nickel; sisters, Jody Hughes Hodges (Ronnie), Allison Hughes (Orlando); brothers, Bernard Hughes and Mark Hughes; and six nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and stepchildren, Douglas A. Dickerson and Angela C. Dickerson. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 20, at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels. A reception will follow at McAdoo's Restaurant Patio next door. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers donations to one of the following: any Habitat for Humanity, New Braunfels Food Bank, or any Hope Hospice.

As I am so sad to hear of Gordon´s passing~
May God & your Angel´s ease all your suffering. I hope you are finally free. I listened to:

A great memory I have with you.
Going to The Majestic, and seeing your beloved Willie.
I loved you from afar Gordon. Because your unresolved pain was just too much for both of us...
I prayed for you often, I even tried to see you before you passed.
Not for gain.
Selfless love~
I pray that you are jogging, marveling at beauty, listening to all your favorite music, seeing your parents( in the light).
