Hallie McRoberts Obituary

HALLIE MARIE HANSEN MCROBERTS, 91, a former Stagecoach and Tomball resident, died March 25, 2004 in San Antonio, TX. Mrs. McRoberts was born in Princeton, Il., October 19,1912 to Chris and Lizzie (Pepper) Hansen. After graduating from Princeton High School, she attended Monmouth College (Il.) where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi, Pi Kappa Delta and Crimson Masque. She taught in country schools in Mason Grove, Green Valley, Hopkins and Wyanet for 8 1/2 years. She married Roger Lowell McRoberts (Malden) on November 14,1936 in Clinton, Il. (He died June 8, 1992). She had been a member of Tomball United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women Potpourri Club, Poetry Society of Texas, Poet's Roundtable of Arkansas, National Fed State Poetry Society, Phi Beta Phi-Cypress Creek, and NW Houston Alumnae Club. Previously she was a member of Fairhaven Methodist Church in Houston. She is survived by 4 children: Hallie Lisa Ross, Benton, Arkansas, Roger L. McRoberts Jr.(married to Alexis Cowan), Lubbock, Helen Andrea (Mrs. Joseph Dixon), San Antonio; Marie Kathleen (Mrs. Darrell Stallworth), Houston; Seven grandchildren: Christian Lane (married to Jenny Barrs), Nathan John, Kyle Hansen, and Taylor Alexis Stallworth; Roger Lowell III (married to Mindy Weber) and Kenneth Colin McRoberts; James L. Ross; Eight great grandchildren; and cousin Janet Castner, Princeton, Il.and Nora Scharn of San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Helen Hansen and 2 granddaughters, Jonna Lee Ross and Amy McRoberts. Memorial Service Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. Tomball United Methodist Church Tomball, TX Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice, Sister's Care of San Antonio, or Tomball United Methodist Church.
