Howard Tucker Obituary

HOWARD A. TUCKER, retired Houston police officer, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2005. Officer Tucker was an army veteran of WWII, where he served in the airborne division, and was a member of Houston Police VFW Post 6010. He played football for Texas Tech on a full scholarship. He joined the Police Academy Class No. 11 on April 19, 1954. He served the department for over 36 years and retired on March 29, 1991. At the time of his retirement, he was assigned to the Central Division. Howard ! enjoyed traveling, watching John Wayne Movies, and spending time with his beloved dog, Tara. Howard is preceded in death by grandchildren, Mark and Mathew. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Hazel; daughters, Rhonda and son-in-law, Gregg and grandson, Jacob Ryan, Linda and son-in-law Jack and grandchildren Michael Howard, and Tristan Keith and their father Keith Garrison. Graveside Funeral Services will be held, 3:00 P.M., Monday, November 7, 2005 at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer, Houston, TX.

I worked with Mr.Tucker in Special Operations and he was a great friend. Every person who spent much time on Riesner Street would stop and visit Howard in his "Office" on lot G. I learned a lot from him and I will miss him.

I've known Howard for many years on the Force...He was a policeman's policeman, who knew his job and did it well..
