Imogene Park Obituary

IMOGENE G. PARK,Imogene G. Park, devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, born at her parents' home in Cameron, Louisiana on April 6, 1934, died peacefully at her daughter's house in Kingwood, TX on July 25, 2005. Imogene graduated in 1952 from St. Charles Academy in Lake Charles, LA and in 1956 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. For 24 years Imogene was the medical librarian at St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles. Upon her retirement in 2001 the library was renamed McGee-Park Medical Library in her honor. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining, fine wine, reading, bridge, crossword puzzles and the beach. We will all deeply miss our favorite travel companion and bid her a fond farewell on her last journey. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Marshall and husband Larry of Kingwood, TX; two sons, Sam Park IV of Belton, TX and Jim Park and wife Chris of Kingwood, TX; four grandchildren, Emily Anne Marshall, Laura Elizabeth Marshall, Matthew James Park and Samuel David Park all of Kingwood, TX; one sister, Julia Anne Wilkens and husband John, one nephew, Doug Brown and wife Michelle and one grand nephew, Clayton Brown all of Lake Charles. The family would like to thank Barbara Barnett for all her love and support. We will remain "best friends forever". Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM in the funeral home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM and Thursday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home. At Imogene's request, contributions may be made to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.johnsonfuneralhome.net.

I was the librarian at St Elizabeth in Beaumont and we travelled together to the Medical Library Association annual meetings in Washington DC in 1980 and in Montreal in 1981. Imogene was truly unique and I am glad to have known her. There will never be another like her.

GOD NEEDED AN ANGEL

God needed an angel in heaven

So He called my dear mother above

But she's only as far away as my heart and she lives as before in my

love. Helen Stiner Rice

For those who have been faithful, O Lord, life is not ended, but merely changed; and when this earthly abode dissolves, an eternal dwelling place awaits them in heaven.

My sincere condolences to Anne, Larry, Emily and Laura
