Irene Adolph Obituary

Irene "Beanie" Atchley Adolph
12/08/1930 - 11/04/2024
IRENE "BEANIE" ATCHLEY ADOLPH, born December 8, 1930 to J.C. and Amelie Atchley in Baton Rouge, died November 4, 2024. Beanie was a graduate of Dominican College, New Orleans, majoring in English. She was grateful for every gift that God gave her.
Beanie lived a life of abundant love, tremendous faith, family, hospitality, story-telling, service to others and a passion for truth and justice. Her husband Bob was the love of her life and he kept her laughing throughout their life together.
Beanie was a fearless homeowner rights advocate, working with coalitions, groups, the Texas legislature and countless individuals to enact positive changes. For many years, she was a board member and volunteer for the Willowbend Civic Club. For several decades, Beanie was a member of the Charity Guild of Catholic Women, volunteering at the resale shop and stitching countless newborn blankets. She and her husband Bob welcomed high school senior Mike DeBroeck as one of the family and hosted many French exchange students. Education was a top priority and Beanie was active in many Mothers Clubs and PTAs, plus volunteered as a CCD teacher, substitute teacher and a tutor. Her children's activities were very important, as she spent many days and nights at athletic events, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and transporting kids to practice. She also found the time to be a hospital volunteer. Beanie believed in being of service to others.
Beanie was predeceased by her husband Bob, son-in-law Larry Cordray, five sisters: Vesta Atchley, Mabel Reed, Doris Olliff, Nell Leingang and Patricia McKeithen and brother Jack Atchley. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Jackson; her three sons: Bob and wife Kathy Jackson of Pennington, NJ, Tom and wife Margie of Sugar Land, TX, Randy and wife Anne of Houston, TX, and daughter Nancy Cordray of Vinita, OK; nine grandchildren: Chris Adolph and wife Erika Steiskal, Brian Adolph and wife Sandra Knauer, John Adolph, Amy Adolph, Mary Adolph, Elizabeth Adolph, Michael Fry, Lisa Kaiser and husband Jeremy, and Sara Clouston and husband AJ; four great-grandchildren: Graham Kaiser, Brie Kaiser, Freya Adolph and Archie Adolph; sister-in-law Vickie Benear; lifelong friend Fannie Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family gives thanks to her caregivers during the past two years.
A Visitation, concluding with eulogies and a rosary, will be held 5 - 8 pm, Monday, November 18, 2024 at Earthman Bellaire Chapel, 4525 Bissonnet St, Bellaire, TX. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Westheimer.
