JACKLYN BALL Obituary

BALL, JACKLYN LUSHER -Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for Jacklyn Lusher Ball; age 80, who passed away July 3, 2010. The Reverend Doctor Maurice W. Geldert and the Reverend R.J. (Bud) Milner will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Ft. Worth, Texas on Saturday, July 10, 2010. Family and friends will gather at the Independence Chapel of the Greenwood Mausoleum, 1300 White Settlement Road, at 11:00 A.M.Jacklyn (or "Jackie" as she was known to friends) died peacefully at home following a long and difficult illness, with her loving husband Ed at her side.Jackie was born on August 18, 1929 to Jack O. and Carmen Brewer Lusher of Perryton, Texas. The family moved to Ft. Worth where she was raised. Both parents precede her in death. Her grandmother was Mrs. W. J. Brewer of Ft. Worth. She is also preceded in death by her aunt, Grace Bockman, and her husband Joe of Roswell, with whom she spent many happy summers as a child.Jackie and Ed met, and fell in love, at Texas Christian University where they were each members of Phi Sigma Iota and Alpha Chi Honor Societies. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1951. Ed and Jackie were married in Ft. Worth on December 6, 1952. They moved to Houston, Texas where they pursued their careers for more than 30 years before moving to Roswell.She is survived by her husband of 57 years, W. Edwin Ball. Jackie is also survived by dearly loved nieces and nephews, James A. Ball III and his wife Shirley of Bartonville, Texas; Carol Shults and her husband Dr. William Thomas Shults of Portland, Oregon; John Ball of Arlington, Texas; Sally Ball Mizzell of Aledo, Texas; and James Howard Ball and his wife Diane of Irving, Texas. Additionally, she is survived by several cousins, grand nephews, grand nieces, and special friends Shane and Karen Brown and their three beautiful children, Isabella, Lockney Jo and little Shane.Ed extends special thanks to Dr. Daniel Raes, Dr. John Dalton and Dr. Vijay Chechani for their loving care of Jackie. He also thanks and appreciates her faithful caregivers at home, Frieda, Faylena, Aracely, Debra and Patricia.Despite her illnesses, Jackie was known for her quick wit, elegance and graciousness. Her close friend and special compadre Michael Schnapp brought much laughter and comfort to her life. She will be greatly missed by all those who were recipients of her love and generosity throughout the years.Pallbearers are her nephews and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to honor Jacklyn Lusher Ball's life make donations to the Animal Welfare Alliance of Roswell at P.O. Box 2762, Roswell, NM 88202 or St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 505 N. Pennsylvania, Roswell, NM 88201.Arrangements have been entrusted to LaGrone Funeral Chapel. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I always looked forward to seeing you and Jackie. You both were always so friendly and kind. I know you have been through alot through Jackie's long illness. I pray you will be able to rest in the peace and love of Christ now. May He comfort you today.
