1929-2017
Jacko Hargrove, Attorney and longtime resident of Houston, passed away on February 28, 2017 at the age of 87 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on April 4, 1929 in Angleton, Texas to Jesse & Oma Hargrove. Jacko is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helena Boese Hargrove and their two sons, Daniel G. Hargrove of Houston; and Dr. Thomas A Hargrove and wife Sandra of Tyler. He was blessed with three grandchildren: Wesley Hargrove of Mountain View, California; Katherine Millslagle and husband Matt of Tyler; and Elise Mock and husband Tyler of College Station. He is also survived by two brothers, Harold Hargrove of Sweeny, Texas; Jesse G Hargrove of Houston; and a sister, Lu Ann Campbell of Mexia, Texas. Jacko graduated from Stephen F. Austin University and the University of Houston Law Center. He practiced as an attorney in Houston for 50 years. He leaves behind a loving family and a close group of "handball" friends. A service celebrating Jacko's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday March 4, 2017 at the chapel of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler. The family requests that memorials be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler 75701.

I'm glad to have known Jacko for over 40 years. A true friend and someone I always enjoyed being around. A dry sense of humor carried him far. He had a keen understanding of his surroundings and where he had come from. A very patient man who I will miss. Johnita & I were privileged to know Jacko and will cherish our memory. Our condolences to Helena, Dan, Tom and Sandra and their family.

Very sad to learn of Jacko's passing. He was the 1st person I played handball with when I moved to Houston in late 1975. We were friends for many years. I'll trust he's playing handball again with some of our other friends who have passed on. We all had a passion for the game.
