James Alexander Obituary

JAMES R. (Jim) ALEXANDER, aged 92, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 in Missouri City. He was born March 9, 1922, in Breckenridge, Stephens County, Texas, to James Rushing Alexander and Ruth Moore Alexander.
Jim was the valedictorian of his high school class in Baird, Texas, received a degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas (with honors) and served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He worked for Gulf Oil (Chevron) for most of his career and traveled extensively with assignments in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, Denmark and Africa. Throughout his life Jim enjoyed building and flying radio control model airplanes, photography, Alfa Romeos, camping, and fly fishing. He retired in 1983 and lived in Missouri City, Texas, with his wife Billie until his death.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of sixty three (63) years Billie, sons Michael Alexander and wife Elizabeth, and Dan Alexander and wife Sherri; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Brad), Zak, Alexis, Amanda, James Cason "Case" Alexander, the apple of his eye, and great grandson Braxton. Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Earthman Southwest Chapel, 12555 South Kirkwood, Stafford, with a Memorial Service beginning at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The 100 Club Inc. 5555 San Felipe St. Ste. 1750 Houston, TX 77056-2733 or the charity of choice.

Bill & I offer our condolences to the family, I know he will be missed for the kind a gentle man that he was. He lived a full life and has left us all with great memories of him. May he rest in peace. What a beautiful marriage and lifelong commitment to each other you have shared! It was an honor to have known him.
