Jim was often asked to offer the opening prayer at various political events that I attended. Jim's prayers were remarkable, and wonderful. I told him so on more than one occasion. He was easy to approach, and had a gentle spirit. I will miss him, and I know a lot of others will too.

To Mama Bowie,Jim,Kim,The Bowie Family, and to the True Light family. What a great man of God Uncle Jim was. Everytime I talked with him he shared great wisdom and knowledge to me. He believed in me when others would not. He will never be forgotten! He has fought a good fight, he has finished his course, and he has kept the faith! My prayers and sympathies are with the Bowie family. I met Jim in the mid-70's when we were both precinct chairmen. Jim was a true gentleman and a credit to the Houston community. He will be sorely missed.
