Dear Dorothy and family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Jim was such a good friend to many. I have many very fond memories of him while growing up with Lisa. He was so kind, funny, and had a gentle manner. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. May God comfort you and may you also be comforted in knowing that Jim is at peace and is at home with our Lord. God bless, Leah Zaborowski-Kaase

Jim was a loving step father to me and my brothers. I never felt like a "step-child" around him. I always felt like he loved us all the same! He was a great PaPaw to all of his grandchildren too! My two sons, Marcus and Mitchell, were fortunate enough to have gotten to spend a lot of time with him when they were younger. He used to take them down to Galveston to go fishing and crabbing and they always enjoyed their outings together. Another neat thing he did was he made a garden for them in our back yard. I will always remember looking out the window and watching him take them outside to inspect the garden to see what was growing and if anything was ready to be picked. Once he planted a sun flower right in the middle of the garden. When that flower finally shot up and grew tall, my boys were amazed! Another neat garden memory was when he and Marcus decided to grow a couple of watermelons. I have a picture of the two of them finally getting to pick a big watermelon off the vine after a very long wait. Another picture shows Marcus trying to carry the huge thing away. He was so proud of what he and his PaPaw had grown! Mitchell enjoyed harvesting strawberries and tomatoes with him. They also spent many hours looking at bugs and other small critters together. He would gently place the "find of the day" in the middle of Mitchell's little hand and then put his little hand in the middle of his own big hand, and together they would inspect the critter. Mitchell enjoyed discovering nature this way! Even as my sons grew older and became teenagers, Jim always wanted to know what they were up to. He always asked about them. I know he loved them very much and I know that they loved him as well! Love, Renee'
