JAMES LOWE Obituary

JAMES STAFFORD LOWE entered into eternal rest on 17th October, 2009. He was born in Woodford, Carter County, OK, 28th Nov. 1926, the son of James Hudson and Audrey Stafford Lowe. He was educated in the Elgin, OK Public Schools and graduated in 1944, as Valedictorian of his class. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corp in May, 1944, and served in the U.S. Occupation Army in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he matriculated to the University of OK where he graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1951. A Texas Registered Professional Engineer, he enjoyed a successful forty year career in the oil business. Upon his retirement while legally blind, he researched and created a database of all of the Battles and Skirmishes of the Civil War, which included dates, locations, officers in charge, and summaries of each conflict. The database was published in CD form in 2009. He was a member of St. Thomas Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder. He was a proud member of the OU Medallion Club, and an avid fan of OU football. He leaves his wife of fifty-five years, Marjorie Johnson Lowe, one son, James S. Lowe, II, and a daughter, Stephanie Lowe Herzfeld and husband David, three grandchildren, Hunter Stafford, Cameron Wood and Brynne Elizabeth Herzfeld, all of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. Jim was a loving, faithful and nurturing father and husband. His devotion to his family was the foundation for all our lives. He never failed to show us the love and trustworthiness we were blessed to receive from him on a daily basis. For that we will be ever grateful to the Lord for bringing him into our lives.A Memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Presbyterian Church, 14100 Memorial Drive on Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 at 11 am. A private family burial will be at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
