James Rogers Obituary

James E. Rogers
1947-2018
With sadness of heart, family and friends mourn the loss of James Edward Rogers who transitioned this life on September 11, 2018. James was born to the late James Rogers Jr. and Annie Flournoy Rogers, and was raised in Pittsburg, TX. James was a long time resident of Missouri City and a current resident of Pearland, TX. James attended Frederick Douglass High School in Pittsburg and graduated valedictorian of the class of 1965. After high school, James went on to attend Texas Southern University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. While in college, James married his high school sweetheart, Diane Spencer Rogers and enjoyed fifty-one years of marriage. To this union were born a daughter, Chandra and son, Cedric. Chandra later married Bernard Snowden, Jr. of Maryland.
James began his work career at Armco Steel where he was employed as a buyer for the company. He remained at Armco for fifteen years and then went on to become an entrepreneur and investor, establishing several successful businesses and investments. He and his wife became the owner of five childcare centers under the name of America's Choice Childcare Centers Inc. They remained in business for thirty-six years before they retired in 2017.
As Houston area residents, James and his family united with Brentwood Baptist Church. Later he and his wife became members of the Fort Bend Church under the leadership of Pastor Byron Stevenson.
James and Diane are the proud grandparents of two loving grandchildren, Bernard Snowden, III and Brenae' Snowden. The legacy of James' illustrious life will live on through his beloved children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 11:00am at The Fort Bend Church, 1900 Eldridge Rd. Sugar Land, TX. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am.
