Janet Elaine Meyer Carter, devoted mother and grandmother passed away in her sleep at her home in Galveston, Texas on Thursday, the 5th of December 2024. She was 75 years of age.
Janet loved entertaining, cooking, traveling and giving back to her community, especially at her beloved restaurant – the Edloe St. Café and Deli in West University Place.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Janet's life on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Rd. in Houston, Texas 77098. All are invited to a reception immediately following the service.

Dear Tracy and Alexa, you know your Mom and I were best friends for many years! I remember helping her scrub the floor of the old Thrift Shop that she bought to start the Edloe Street Deli, which ended up being the heart of the community. She was an amazing woman. She was so proud of you two! My heart is with you right now. I so wanted to be at her service, but will not be able to be there. I will be with you and my friend Janet in spirit on Monday
