Hey, Jared. I was just reading all the posts on this guest book, man. I miss you so much. I am sitting here overwhelmed with sadness, wondering how I am going to get through the year without you. School is so empty now. I had a dream about you the other night. It was so comforting to be able to hug you and show you how much I love you, man. Don't forget to visit again soon. No amount of words can describe my sadness. No amount of words can do you justice, or honor your memory enough. I love you so much, man, and that will never change, no matter how long goes by. So, here it is. To you, Jared- My best friend, my brother-in-arms, my co-conspirator, my family. I will always love you, man, from now until the end of time. I miss you so much. Don't forget to visit us down here, man. With love, Connor.

For all the wonderfull times you've been at ZU, I would like to thank you. You were quite the person in the BA, I've heard. I never really knew you personally, but everyone said you were amongst the cool guys. It's very sad to see you leave like this.

Jared was a good man, but more importantly, a great poet.

I personally never talked to Jared, but I hope you realize how much of an impact he has made on many people's lives. It may have been through an online forum, but even now I feel has though he has left a great influence on me. We should all be grateful for his life and what life he has left for us. Rest in peace, Jared.

I am one of many who had the chance to know Jared through the online writing community mentioned in the replies. I am greatly shocked and upset by his death.
WE both lived in very different countries, but the few times we talked things like that were thrown aside. Perhaps none of us met him in real life, but the connection was still there, and it makes us appreciate how close we are.

Dear Griffis Family,
Jared was an incredible friend, peer, and "rival" to me. His wit, humor, and ever-enduring cheerfulness touched me from the first moment I met him. Sadly, I never had the honor to meet him in person, but I came to think of him as a brother as we became friends online.
Whenever I was sad or depressed, I merely had to talk to Jared, and his casual wit and hilarity always cheered me up without fail. I never even had to tell him that I was feeling down. Truely, Jared Philip Griffis was an individual that had no equal in talent, wit, or charm. To those who knew and loved him, he left a legacy in his amazing spirit.

Wow, it's shocking, it really is...
I'd like to express my sincerest condolences to the Griffis family; I know how it must be to have a loss like this, especially for such a strong personality as Jared was.
I can't say that I knew him personally, but I sincerely regret that, and, from what I saw on ZeldaUniverse, he was a fantastic guy and a really strong person, overall.
Death is a terribly strong thing, and you never really think it can happen to you, but when it does, it feels as though a hole has been ripped through you, and it hurts whenever the wind blows through it. I'm so sorry. Hang in there, guys.

Dear Griffis family,
In addition to all of those that knew him personally in his home area or elsewhere, Jared impacted the lives of those in communities brought together online. I am one of such people, just like those that posted before me. Jared and I became acquainted some time near 2003, and though I regrettably lost contact with him during the more recent months he was a good friend of mine across the years.
I can testify along with the dozens of others before me that Jared was an extremely sharp and talented person beyond his age. For whatever it is worth, as I have never met him face to face, I will never forget him, and my heart goes out to all of those who knew him personally for such a loss.
To end on a more positive, though perhaps trivial note, I am deeply honored (and unable to overstate how much) that Jared included a character visibly inspired by his friendship with me in his story, under the name of Aedin. Once again, for whatever it is worth, I have done the same for him in a story that I've been working on for some years now.
But above all, my heart goes out to all of those who lost Jared. I just ask that you forgive my verbose rambling.

I, unfortunately, never personally spoke to Jared--or Duke, as I better knew him--but his charisma, wit, style and talent caused me to develop a certain respect for him that many other people seemed to share for Jared.
He was truly a great person in every aspect, and I regret not getting to know him better.
Rest in Peace, Jared.

I too new Jared through an online site. I never truly got the chance to actually sit down and chat it up with him, and now, i regret not doing so. From what I've heard, Jared was a wonderful kid. I will miss him, and I will always regret not knowing him better. I hope Jared is happy in Heaven, rest in piece Duke of Clubs.

I knew Jared from an online site as most of the people who wrote here. I didn't actually got to really know him, but as everyone knows, death isn't something that is good. Since I lost both my sister and grandmother, I've looked at death as a bad thing and something that causes a lot of sorrow.
What I wish is that your family try to stay together at this time period and try to get through everything. Look ahead and not behind, and continue forward. If you stay in the past, then you may not get out.
I send my prayers to your family.
RIP Jared, aka Duke of Clubs.

He will be remembered though, because he was so important to so many lives around the world.

Dear Cindy, Phil, Wyatt, & Jackson,
You don't know me. But I know Jared. Many here have spoken for Jared and how he personally impacted their lives. Though I never knew him in person, he impacted me with every word he wrote. He shared writing with me on an online site. When I heard the news of such a loss, my heart broke. He impacted not only me, but every person on that site. God is now welcoming him into heaven with open arms, and all of us are grieving with you now. Your son was more of an influence on lives than you know. He will be kept close in our hearts as he leaves us for a better place. In this case, my words cannot express how deeply I regret such a young, talented man's death.
The greatest of sympathies.

To the Griffis Family:
Jared was my old classmate in WAVE and I can't even to begin to comprehend what you are feeling right now. Jared was always known as a brilliant and well spoken kid and served as an example for his classmates to follow. I just wanted to let you know that all of the WAVE community deeply feels this loss and will always respect Jared for the great kid he was.
