Jimmie Spence Obituary

Spence
Jimmie Gallant Spence, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt died Tuesday September 13th at the age of 77. She was born in Latexo, TX. To David S and Wessie Bowman Gallant on May 21st 1934.
After graduating from Latexo High School in 1952, she moved to Houston where she began her career in the banking industry and met her husband, CB Spence. Everyone teased them because CB had been her teacher while she was a student at Latexo HS. Jimmie and CB were married in 1956 and moved to Pasadena, TX where they raised two children. Jimmie's greatest joy was her family, and there were many Saturdays spent at family barbeques with Jimmie making her famous homeade ice cream. She also enjoyed gardening and long walks, although no one was able to match her pace. She was a proud member of South Main Baptist Church and made many life long friends there while sharing her joys and sorrows over the years.
In 1989, Jimmie and CB moved back to Latexo, built their retirement home and began to reconnect with many of their childhood friends. Jimmie and CB were members of the Latexo Baptist Church. They loved taking vacations in the Smoky Mountains, going to eat Mexican food and swapping stories with their friends. Jimmie also enjoyed getting to spend more time with her cousin, Kathryn Minter and husband Bobby, and brother David Gallant while living in Latexo.
In 2005, Jimmie and CB moved back to Missouri City and she began to oversee the care for her husband, providing love and support for him in his time of need. She was extremely kind and loyal and never passed judgement on others. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a brother, David Gallant of Latexo; a son, John Spence of Sugar Land and wife Belinda; a daughter, Kristen Turner of Pearland and husband Mike Turner. She is also survived by granddaughters Nicole Turner, Brianna Spence, and Brooke Spence.
She also leaves a niece, Karen Beard Jones and husband Mike Temple. Karen and Mike provided much love and support in the last year and the family will be forever grateful.
Services are set for 10:30 AM Friday morning at Latexo Baptist Church with burial following at the Latexo Cemetery.
The family also wishes to thank Burnse Staten and Mashariki Guy for their care and love in helping Jimmie in the past few months.
In lieu of customary remembrances, donations may be directed to the Michael J Fox Foundation or the National Parkinson's Foundation.

Dear John & Kristen,

Your mother was a sweet lady and I know she will be missed... Your family displayed the patience of Job living across the street from us.

John, go mow the yard again:-)

Sincerely,
John Doiron
