John Raymond Hatcher (known as JR), a long-time resident of Houston, Texas died on January 15, 2022. He was born April 23, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is survived by his children Harold (Kathy) Hatcher of Cypress, Texas and Tammi Hatcher of Willis, Texas; grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha, Michael, Jordan and Bryton; sister-in-law Betty Hatcher and niece Valerie Hatcher, of Longview, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Lola Irene and John Raymond Hatcher; and brother William Hatcher.
JR served in the US Army. He worked in the Pressroom at the Houston Chronicle for 35 years, driving his 1959 Corvette to work each day until his retirement. His brother William and brother-in-law, Ray Robbins also worked with him at the Chronicle. JR's fellow Houston Chronicle Pressmen were his closest circle of life-long friends.
JR will be honored in a celebration of life ceremony at Westway Baptist Church, 11207 Perry Rd., Houston, Texas 77064 on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 11:00am.
