John Muire Obituary

John Stacy Muire
1956-2022
John Stacy Muire died unexpectedly on January 17th in Houston. Born in Wichita Falls, Texas on August 6, 1956, he was raised by his loving parents Forrest and Beverly Muire in Midland, Texas, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Midland High School in 1974 and Austin College in 1978. Upon graduation, he started his long career as a Landman; John loved the oil and gas business. He later made his homes in Charleston West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Evergreen Colorado, and Houston. A real family man, John was the loving and devoted husband to his wife of 38 years, Kit. He was the proud and dedicated father to Adam Hopkins and Agatha Anne and recently became the happy and adoring grandfather to Oscar John Kusiak - his first grandchild. John was happiest spending time with his family and making people smile. John's many friends and neighbors will remember him for his kindness, generosity, quick wit, mischievous spirit, and great cooking. He loved to play golf with his buddies and graciously host his friends and family for cocktails and dinner. Upon retirement, he started volunteering for The Beacon where he enjoyed working in the kitchen and serving the clients. He also sat on the Board. John enjoyed traveling, especially to Germany and NYC, and loving on his family and dogs.

John is deeply missed by his wife, his two children and their spouses, Sarah Muire and Kenny Kusiak, his mother, his brother Carter Muire, his two sisters Sally Kvasnicka (Dave) and Jennifer Holcombe, and his brother-in-law Christopher Larsen.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Monday, January 24th at Christ Church Cathedral, 1117 Texas Ave. in Houston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in John's honor be directed to The Beacon, Christ Church Cathedral, or Evergreen Christian Outreach.

Dear Kit, Adam and Anne, I was very saddened to hear of John's passing. Thoughts of him brought to mind happy memories of the early years when John and Dan were starting out in the oil business. He was a wonderful person. My deepest sympathy to you all. Patty
