John Perlitz Obituary

John Michael Perlitz
03/07/1956 - 03/28/2023
Many knew him as John, while to others he was Mike or Michael. We regret to announce the passing of our brother, John Michael Perlitz, of Houston Texas. He passed away on the morning of Tuesday, March 28, 2023, after a long illness.
Michael graduated Rider College in Lawrenceville, New Jersey in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and began his career shortly thereafter with Tenneco in Houston. Approximately a decade later, he left the Oil industry and joined the Accounting Department of the Houston Independent School District (HISD) where he worked tirelessly and enthusiastically until his retirement in 2018.
Michael served as an Usher and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Ghost RC Church in Bellaire, Texas for many years. He was blessed to have made several cherished friends in the Holy Ghost community. An avid ballplayer in his younger years, Michael loved his sports, especially the Astros and Cowboys.
He is predeceased by his parents, Velda Miller Perlitz, and Werner John Perlitz. Michael is survived by his sister, Theresa Perlitz Latham, and brother, Thad Perlitz, as well as his nieces, Katherine and Emily Latham, and nephews, Cole and Evan Perlitz.
A Rosary at 9:30 followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 are planned for May 4th at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Drive, Houston. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Red Cross.
