John Wisenbaker Obituary

John Wisenbaker
1964-2016
John Wisenbaker was always ready to help anyone in need. It's no surprise that he selflessly gave his life rescuing two strangers in trouble. John deeply loved his family and friends regardless of their differences and often seemed to have gained more enjoyment over debating differences of opinion. We all know John always shared his opinion. But he always allowed others to share theirs. His strong presence will live on in the hearts of all the people whose lives he touched and he touched so many.
John began bowling as a child, continued bowling in leagues and tournaments all of his life and made many close lifelong friends as a result. He also enjoyed golfing, shooting, fishing, and had a great appreciation for classic cars. John was proud to serve those who were in the military in his profession as an Auto Insurance Adjustor for USAA. He honored those who fought to protect our country in the armed services as well as local police and emergency services professionals who risk their lives daily to protect our communities.
John was born to Maxine Wisenbaker and the late Carl Wisenbaker on September 13, 1964 in Houston, TX and departed on August 14, 2016 in Navarre Beach, FL
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 27 years, Cordelia Wisenbaker as well as three children; Son, John Parker Wisenbaker and daughters, Cassandra Wisenbaker and Melissa Wabschall, her husband Mike and grandchildren, Luke and Erika. He also has a large extended family of which each and every one held an important place in his heart.
Memorial Services will be on Saturday, 8/19/16 at 2:00 PM with family visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at Levy Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet, Bellaire, TX.

I received the news of his passing last night and I was so stunned that I couldn't comprehend it. I am so sorry for Cordy and the three children, what a terrible loss but he is with our Lord now and in a much better place. I met John in 1992 and worked with him several times; bowled with him at Diamond, Emerald and Palace lanes as well. What a great man, husband, father and friend. He died selflessly helping strangers...that says it all. Goodbye my old friend. God be with the family.

I met John when our boys played baseball together at Kyle Chapman. I probably struck up a conversation because I was accustomed to a long maiden name that didn't fit well on the back of athletic uniforms and Wisenbaker was that kind of name. From the first conversation it was obvious that John was proud of his family and had a great heart. As years went on, John would still recognize me and say "Hi" when our paths crossed at Target, catching up on what our sons were doing. My husband passed away a year ago and I always relish learning about the "unknown" impact his life had. I hope John's family finds some consolation knowing that he was the kind of guy who was kind and thoughtful and left a lasting impression in a simple interaction. I was stunned when I read of his passing in the paper. My deepest sympathy to the family. May fond memories help you find strength.

Just heard today of John's passing. He was doing a fine unselfish act and unfortunately paid with his own life. Jim and I were very glad to have known John through bowling and hope his family will have few moments of sorrow and many moments of remembering what a kind person John was. Our thoughts are with you.
