Johnnie Harrison Jr. departed this life Sunday Jan. 8, 2017. He was born in Many, LA but made his home in Houston with his wife Doris of 59 years. He is survived by 5 of his 6 children, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a sister, brother and a host of relatives and friends. Services will be held Saturday, January 14, at 11:00 AM at First Church Heights, 201 E. 9th St., Houston, Texas 77007. Luncheon follows from 12-2:00 PM for all who wish to attend.

Many memories flowed in as I remembered "Bo" whom my father, Clifton Hargis referred to as his best friend and neighbor. We lived next door to the Harrison's and I grew up playing with their kids. I can see myself and Dale playing hopscotch on the sidewalk and Jeffrey (the quiet one) always helping his dad. This family was my Brady Bunch family--watching Doris Harrison being active in girl scouts and being a beautiful and wonderful stay at home mother. Bo always lending a listening ear and offering words of wisdom. He was my hero who saved me once when I was in the 6 grade at Mading and was running home from a fight at school. He was the neighbor who kept a watchful eye over our home and assisted my dad in many ways. My sincere condolences to Vickie, Tuti, Jeff, Lynette and family. May he rest in peace.

A beautiful memory of mine is my sister as my maid of honor and "Pops", as his son called him, as Jeff's best man. At the end of the wedding video, there was "Pop", calling us kids and tellings us he loved us and would be there whenever we needed him. He was more of a father to me than mine had ever been.
