Johnnie, age 90, passed away January 23, 2025. Johnnie was born in Fayetteville, Texas. Losing his mother and father prior to his sixth birthday he was raised by his brother, Elo Veselka and sister-in-law Mary Ann in Baytown, Texas.
Johnnie married Cynthia Mackrell in 1959. They were married until her passing in 2003. He later married Dusty Novak in 2008.
Johnnie graduated from Texas A&M in 1961 and worked for the US Treasury Department until his retirement in 1995.
In 1970 Johnnie purchased property in Old Waverly, Texas and the "Roun Tuit Ranch" or "The Farm" became the weekend getaway where many sausage cook-off contests were held. Johnnie enjoyed dancing, gaming and an occasional Crown Royal.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Cora Veselka, wife, Cynthia Mackrell Veselka, siblings infant brother and sister Gilbert and Minnie Mae, Elo and Mary Ann Veselka, Leroy and Margie Veselka, Earline and Quentin Hoffman, Celestine and Rudy Darilek. Matilda & Bill Moore and Cora and Pat Taylor, brothers-in-law Warren and Anderson, Robert Landry and Henry Novak.
Survivors include wife Dusty Veselka, Daughter Geina Parish and husband Jerry, Melissa Veselka, Stepdaughter Jamie Hollingshead and husband Tom. Grandsons Jacob Veselka, Blake and Derek Parish and Colton Hollingshead. Sibling Delphine Darling and also many many wonderful nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Earthman-Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St. Bellaire, TX, Friday, January 31, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM, with rosary at 6 PM. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fayetteville, Texas, 78940.

Oh John Boy ! We were neighbors on Lymbar in Houston from 1986. Good times. Then my Barb died in 2002 and Cindy in 2003. We spent many nights together, you and your Crown, me and my Highland Mist, boiled shrimp and avocados on the half, and Deal No Deal. You made my life bearable in difficult times. Them along came Cathi, then Dusty. We kept right on, more good times. You were always with me to celebrate tax day, til now. My first without you tonight. Just not right. I look forward to the day we can do it again. See you round the bend.
