Anthony Petkunas Obituary

Anthony Petkunas, 89, of Bettendorf, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2003, at his home. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday until services time at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Following burial, there will be a luncheon in the Runge Mortuary Community Room.
Anthony was born on May 29, 1914, in Spring Valley, Ill., the son of Anton and Rosalie (Budreviesz) Petkunas. He was united in marriage to Myrtle R. Hudgens on March 23, 1935, in Metropolis, Ill. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2002.
Prior to his retirement in 1975, Anthony was employed at Oscar Mayer in Davenport for 23 years.
Anthony enjoyed gardening, crafts and woodworking. He had handcrafted and sold numerous grandfather clocks and made furniture for the family. He also enjoyed TV game shows and talking on the phone with his family.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia Petkunas, Milan, Ill., and Phyllis (Bernard) Martin, Rock Island; sons, Gerald Petkunas, with whom he resided, and Richard (Judith) Petkunas, all of Bettendorf; three grandchildren, Thomas Petkunas, Judith Ewing and Pamela Way; six great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Justin, Angela, Samantha and Alexis; two great-great-grandchildren, Autumn and Hailee; brother, Victor Petkunas, Palatine, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers, an infant daughter, Dolores, and one grandson, Tony.
