Joseph Geaccone Obituary
JOSEPH CARL GEACCONE, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great grandfather, Uncle and special loyal friend, entered eternal life on Saturday, the 26th of November 2005, after suffering an inoperable hip fracture and health complications. Mr. Geaccone was the youngest son of Gasper Joseph Geaccone and Rosalie (Lilly) Geaccone was born the 4th of September 1926 in Houston. Mr. Geaccone attended Sacred Heart School, Wharton Elementary, Lanier Junior High and Lamar High School. Before joining the U.S. Air Force Joseph attended The University of Texas. After World War II he attended The University of Houston. His athletic ability was recognized in these schools and ball leagues in the forties and fifties and was an excellent golfer and avid fisherman. Mr. Geaccone and Paul Finberg opened the first Pizzeria in Houston in 1958 The "Pizza Oven" became the place to be, especially for young people. Mr. Geaccone was preceded in death by his brothers Dr. Samuel J. Geaconne and Gasper B. Geacone. He is survived by his wife Alice Marie Geacone, his daughter Marietta Tomlin and her husband Tom Tomlin, his sons Joseph Morrell Geacone, Gasper Joseph Geaccone and his wife Mary Katherine, sisters-in-law Annet Pearson and Stella Gomes, nephews Rick Lowes, Gasper Geaccone, Donald Geaccone and Dr. Gary Geaccone, nieces Linda Uperti, Cathy Lowes, Lynda Aquilina and Terri Schwartz. Pallbearers will be T.J. Tomlin, Joel Tomlin, Trey Tomlin, Donald Geaccone, Gasper Geaccone, Dr. Gary Geaccone and Shane Gallaway. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of Lamar 1940's Club, Yank Arnold, Sam Campisi, Pep Cauarreta, Joe David Carrabba, Pat Cooper, Adriano Farinola, Max Holcombe, Jim Hamilton, Dutch Hoeffler, Don Holmes, Haskel La Rose, Sam Maida, Vincent Musachia, Sammy Patrenella, Jay Pollard, Connie Pontikes, Pete Porcarello, Paul Porcarello, Sam Restivo, Richard Willett and Herb Wolf. The family of Joseph Carl Geaccone wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of St. Luke's Episcopal Health system for their close personal care to Joseph. We acknowledge the close personal care of these expert Physicians, Dr. Tahirih T. Bakes, M.D., Dr. Francis J. Garcia-Tores, M.D.FACG, Dr. Shahid Muhammao, M.D. FACG, Dr. P Patrick Wood, M.D. Surgical Director. Joseph especially felt the concern and care from: John Hoef, Physians Assistant Deidra Lester, Financial Council Yubelka Vado, nurse and especially B.J. Nevillis in the Liver Disease Clinic. Friends are cordially invited to visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 29th of November 2005, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons in Houston. The Vigil Service will begin at seven o'clock in the evening. A Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 30th of November 2005, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, in Houston with the Rev. Msgr. Eugene G. Francis as celebrant. The Rite of Committal will follow, via escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. Attuning their lives to their beloved Saint Joseph and the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, the Geaccone family appreciates their Italian Heritage. There is great joy in remembering the delicious food and all the joyous gatherings with loving parents. Love has always been there with the Italian Traditions of faith, family, friends, food and fun. "So there abide Faith, Hope and Love, these three, but the greatest of these is love." 1 Cor. 13:13. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Charity Guild of Saint Joseph, P.O. Box 570728-319, Houston, Texas 77257-0728. This Guild is dedicated to feeding the poor.
