I worked for Joe as a summer employee of Humble in 1950. He was very supportive of me throughout my caeer. He even attended my Rice graduation exercises. I frequently consulted him through the years. We co-authered "Twenty-Five Years of Progress in Reservoir Engineering", an SPE review paper. He was indeed a Reservoir Engineering Icon.

I knew Joe from EPR when we came down from Tulsa. Joe and I were great friends and I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven.
