Julian Ward Obituary

Julian Ward
August 3, 1935 - July 4, 2022
Julian Russell Ward, 86, of Cypress, passed away July 4, 2022.
Julian was born in Lufkin, Texas on August 3, 1935. His family moved to Pasadena, Texas in the early 1950s, and Julian graduated from Pasadena High School in 1953. He attended Rice University and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1959. Julian was employed at Brown & Root for forty years until his retirement in 1999.
Julian is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, who passed in 2015.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Valerie Ward; granddaughters Molly and Madeline Ward; and sister Harriet Vincent.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Cypress Pointe Health and Wellness, Vantage Hospice, and his caregivers with Right at Home for their care and devotion to Julian over the last year.
Julian had a passion for knowledge and a heart for assisting the next generation of Chemical Engineers at his beloved Rice University. To honor his legacy, the family requests donations to the Julian R. Ward endowed scholarship in lieu of flowers.
For those who wish to do so, memorial contributions may be directed to: Rice University Office of Development MS-81; P.O. Box 1892; Houston, TX 77251-1892. Contributions may be made online at https://giving.rice.edu/ with a designation for the "Julian R. Ward Endowed Scholarship."

Russell, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. Julian and I worked together at Brown & Root. Actually we were in the same office with Jimmy Norris. Such a good person. I remember him telling me when he retired that he was going to work for Barbara and her jewelry business. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

He was an extraordinary friend and family man. He found joy in even the most seemingly mundane experiences as well as the unique.
