Kathryn Davis Obituary

Kathryn Davis
04/17/1958 - 01/13/2026
Kathryn was born in Maine to Edna Omohundro Cain and Thomas Markley on April 17, 1958. She grew up in Virginia and Tennessee with her siblings Ken and Abigail, where she developed a love of Southern food and familial warmth. She attended Camp Chanco on the James youth summer camp in Virginia and was a John Philip Sousa Band Award winner for her clarinet expertise, an award recognizing superior musicianship, dependability, loyalty, and cooperation.

She attended Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia where she was in the Delta Zeta sorority and met Tony Davis in Charlottesville, who she married on August 6, 1983. They went on to live in California and Oklahoma before finding their home in Texas for the last 34 years.

Kathryn was the mother of three sons-Evan, Graham, and Mitchell Davis.

She volunteered as a Museum Docent, a Junior League Member, and in the West University Little League Women's Auxiliary. Kathryn was immensely involved in her three sons' upbringing, from organizing garage sales and field day ("The Olympics") and being a carpool extraordinaire. She lovingly carted her boys around for weekend sports games, late night theatre rehearsals, and everything in between.

Kathryn encouraged the love of animals, a dedication to family, and spreading love through home-cooked food. She was an accomplished chef and baker and was happy to share her goods with family, friends, and any who were hungry. Her friends included fellow parents, school staff, and the person next to her in line at the grocery store.

She received a double lung transplant in 2020, and her health problems returned at the end of 2025. She spent the time between cherishing her grandkids, to whom she was lovingly, 'Nanna,' traveling with Tony, and participating in water aerobics with friends. Kathryn died at age 67 in Austin, Texas comfortably, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Tony, her three sons, Evan, Graham, and Mitchell and their respective partners, and her beloved grandchildren, Eleanor and Henry Davis.

A memorial service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd 3201 Windsor Rd, Austin, TX 78703 on Wednesday, January 28 from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Houston Methodist J.C. Walter Jr. Lung Transplant Center https://givingforms.houstonmethodist.org/GeneralGivingForm (listed under 'Program or Initiative) or to Camp Chanco on the James https://chanco.org/donate/. And if you are able, in gratitude for the six extra years we had with her, please be an organ donor.

I knew Kathryn in high school and became re-acquainted with her when we both lived in Austin. I always enjoyed visiting her during that time, marveling at the Starbucks "travel" mugs she had from everywhere, reconnecting with former classmates together, and enjoying her hospitality. This picture in on Tunstall High School Graduation Day in June 1976.
