It was a pleasure knowing and working with Ken. Outsiders looking in could not understand Enron; those on the inside made Enron the most exciting company to be with. Ken made that possible. I will truly miss him and offer you, his family, the Peace that passes all understanding that we shall all be together again someday in a much better place, with him and with HIM.

Dear Lay Family,
I knew your husband and father when he was in high school and he lived very near my home. Reverend Lay, his father, baptised me when I was 15 years old and I treasure my memories of the entire family. Linda the day you came to Bethel Church and I got to see him again and share a pew with both of you before you went back home will be one more of my treasured memories. I thank God for being able to see him again in this lifetime. The help you both were to Bethel Church is also treasured and you may never know how much you and Ken impacted our lives.
Sincerely,
P. Collier

Mrs. Lay and Family,
Although I did not know you personally, I am compelled to tell you how much I am saddened by Mr. Lay's passing. I am grateful that the good Lord has spared him further turmoil on this earth and taken him home. I can tell that he was a strong, caring, giving, and kind person, one who truly has left a wonderful legacy of honesty and integrity. I hope you find comfort in knowing that there are many people who know beyond the shadow of a doubt that Mr. Lay was innocent and will always remain in our hearts as a good and honest man. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

What a comfort to know without a doubt he is home with Jesus. I don't or have never known him yet sent him a letter of support a couple of years ago. He surprised me with a letter back stating way back then that "God was in control!"
I have prayed for him often and actually wanted to go to his memorial to show gratitude for all the many he has helped with his philanthropy but wasn't sure if that was appropriate having not known him personally. His courage and his actions throughout this whole ordeal is an example to all. How lucky for his grandchildren and children to have had him in their lives. He looked like the perfect Dad/Grandad that I wish I had. Peace to the family.

My prayers goes out to the Lay's Family. May God comfort you in your great loss. Mr. Lay was a very kind and friendly man, and this is all I ever experience him as being in my presence. I admired the fact that he approved of the employees there the gift to have bible studies there, a rarity in most companies, but not Enron and for that a lot of us was bless by that endeavor. He will be greatly missed by those who know him. May God bless your family and heal you of all the hurts and pains you had to endure. Stay strong and very prayerful. Knowing that a family that prays together will stay together, regardless of what may come against them. Be bless.

Linda-
A very long time ago my daddy worked with Ken at Humble Oil! He went home to be with the Lord in 1982. I know that Ken was welcomed with open arms when he reached those gates. You are in my prayers as well as your family. Fear not, Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. In death, we rise.......

Linda, Judie, Children, and Grandchildren, I went to high school with Ken and he was well liked and respected in high school and through out his life by those who knew him well. Ken was kind, compassionate, and ethical and he trusted people because he could be trusted. I have spent days trying to think of all I wanted to say but I cannot put all the words in this page. I already lost my mother, father, Aunts, Uncles, and sister as well as all cousins but one on one side of the family. I pray that God will keep you in His arms as you Walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death and that you come out of this experience the same wonderful loving family even without Ken there to guide you. Ken is with God now and you can rest assured you will have a guardian angel watching over your lives now. My prayers are with you.

I haven't seen you all in a long time but you have been in my thoughts and prayers. I sent Ken and Linda a note in November of '01. I just wanted you all to know I was thinking about you. I certainly did not expect a response especially with all he had going on, nor was I looking for one. Much to my surprise, he wrote me a personal note back. That shows what kind of a man he was. He was a wonderful friend who took time to thank others for their friendship and support. I will always remember him for all of the wonderful things he did for others. He was kind, generous and respectful. He was a true son of God and I have no doubt he is in peace with Him now. His faith never wavered. Turn to God for strength and peace and he will provide you with all you need. May you find comfort in your wonderful family and close friends and in God's promise. My prayers are with each of you. Take care and God bless you,
Barbara

I did not know Ken Lay personally, but have been drawn to his story for the past several years - both in his involvement in the community and the unfortunate trials at Enron. It was encouraging to hear from a man who had experienced the height of success and the sorrow of its undoing, but who remained secure in his resolute faithfulness to God. Ken Lay appeared to be constant in his belief that God was in control and he did not hesitate to share that publicly.
I am reminded that the legacy left by a person is not defined by the circumstances of their life, but by the consistent intent of their heart.
To the Lay family - I am not able to imagine the scope of your pain, both in Mr. Lay's death and the events of recent months. I hope you can hold fast to the legacy you know and to the faith Mr. Lay demonstrated.
Respectfully,

Mr. Lay was a kind and generous man who stood with honor and integrity at all times. He was a truly loyal Houstonian whose generosity was felt by many. Our city was fortunate to have had Mr. Lay as a resident for as long as we did. He was an exceptional civic and business leader and supported the community with his knack for getting others involved. The world was a better place for having him to call a friend.

To The Lay Family,
I didn't have the opportunity to know you all, but did hear allot about Enron's good and bad as well about Mr. & Mrs. Lay. The good alway out weights everything else. I watched the news and I admired the love that Mr.& Mrs. Lay had and have. The holding hand and the hugs even after 23 years together Boy! that was a God given marriage. Through the good time and the bad you all stood together never leaving the others aside. I could't believe such a wonderful couple being put thur so much. Ms. Lay you and your husband were great examples of true love and what God does in His mystrious ways. God gave you all such a beautiful life together to hold and to cherish until death did depart. To the children and grandchildren I applogize, I know what it is to loose a father I have lost my daddy as well. I myself was a daddy's girl and it hurts. Please! Please! be there for your mother and help her during her time of sorrow so that she may go on with life giving the Lord all Glory and Honor. Your mother will need all of you by her side as she goes on without your dad. They were every much in love and did everything together now its time you all spend more time with her in help her through this difficult time. My smpathy goes out to each and everyone of the Lay family.
May Mr. Lay rest in peace and walk the streets of gold looking down from above watch over each and every one of you.
