Laura Martinez

Laura Martinez of Houston passed away January 8, 2014.
She is survived by her mother Elodia "Lola" Vega Martinez; brother Raymond Norberto Martinez; sister Pam Martinez; nephew Steven R. Martinez and the love of her life Reymundo Gallegos and their dear babies: Nina, Princess, Mr. Black and Mr. Brown and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Laura was preceded in death by her father Domingo Martinez; paternal grandparents Eusebio & Guadalupe P. Martinez; maternal grandparents Rev. Apolonio & Nocolasa Tovar Vega.
Laura succumbed to complication of double pneumonia, resulting in cardiac arrest. She was 50 years old. Laura worked in Heath-care for most of her adult life. She was born September 6, 1963. She graduated from James Madison High School in 1982. Her warm outgoing nature is how she met people and made friends. The kind of person you always wanted around. She knew how to implement ideas and cheer on the team. Laura has been a MYF youth counselor and volunteered at her church Westbury UMC. She has assisted the elderly, as well as the homeless at a day shelter. She contributed her efforts to causes such as the National Kidney Foundation, March of Dimes, Autism Speaks, Etc. Some of her hobbies were attending church, entertaining family and friends in her home, and attending live music concerts.
