Lisa Doran Obituary

Lisa Marie Doran Our beautiful Lisa Marie Doran was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2013. Born September 7, 1963 in Seymour, Indiana, Lisa lived a life of faith and selfless devotion to her family, friends and students. To Paul and Mae Doran, Lisa was a precious gift and delighted her parents all her life. Lisa exemplified her mother's strength and courage while battling cancer for the last three years.
She excelled as an elementary school teacher for 26 years and was honored as Teacher of the Year at both Spring Shadows (1996-97) and at Frostwood Elementary School (2011-2012). Known for her kind and affirming direction, Lisa was genuinely invested in her students, always looking for opportunities to encourage them to do their best work. A former student, now a 9th grader, wrote "being challenged in your class largely impacted my work ethic and perseverance in school and in life. You taught me at a young age that nothing comes easy." Lisa ran "with perseverance the race marked out before her and fixed her eyes on Jesus" (Hebrews 12:1,2)
Lisa's sky blue eyes, big bright smile and sweet spirit radiated God's goodness and grace. Her Christ-like servant heart blessed us all. Lisa "fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
Lisa is loved and cherished and will be missed by her father, Paul Doran of Houston; brother, Craig Doran, his wife, Robin and their children, Hudson and Harper of Sachse, Texas and brother, Mark Doran, his wife Wendy and their children Blake and Hayley of Dallas, Texas and Barrett and Cate of St. Louis, Missouri.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on February 26th at Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston at 4:00 pm. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Lisa Doran Memorial Fund at Frostwood Elementary School or a charity of your choice.

It has been seven years since Lisas birthday into Heaven happened. I was so fortunate to have known my dear friend for twenty years. I continue to work at Frostwood Elementary and always remember her quiet laughter and wise encouragement. I love you dear friend.

I was blessed to renew my friendship with Lisa for 4 years before her passing. She inspired me with her courage and faith and her sweet laughter. Today I know deeply that Lisa, while absent in body, is now with me in spirit and love.
Intuitively I feel Lisa's spirit surrounding me daily and I will forever love her.

Our deepest sympathy for your family. Lisa was our son's 3rd grade teacher at Frostwood (7 years ago). She always asked him about even years later and always remembered his name. We will always remember her as a kind, caring and wonderful teacher with a bright smile and beautiful eyes. We will keep your family in our prayers at this difficult time.

I love you, Precious Lady. Always selfless and worried about others. She was the best friend I or anyone ever had. She started out asking me questions about faith, God, and The Bible. She wound up bringing me closer to God. Thank you for everything, Lisa Marie, and thank you for that smile and your last words. I miss you.

To Mr Doran and her family, thank you for sharing this wonderful lady with us all.
