Manuel Rodriguez Obituary

MANUEL OJEDA RODRIGUEZ went home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2005, in Plano, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Nieto Rodriguez, and parents, Carlos and Dorotea Rodriguez as well as several siblings and other relatives. Manuel spent most of his youth in Houston's Second Ward. He served in the U.S. Civilian Conservation Corps and Merchant Marine. He is a U. S. Army World War II veteran. He was very active in his home parish, Blessed Sacrament Church, where he was head usher as well as bazaar chairman and member of the parish council for many years. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J. J. Davis Council, a 4th degree Knight with Msg. Wilhelm Assembly, past Vice President of The Sociedad Mutualista Obrera Mexicana, a past mayoral appointee to the Area Agency on Aging Board, past member of Ripley House Health Council, and a founding member of the Oldtimers Club of Houston. He was very active in community politics and helped organize the initial Navigation Area Council. He has left his imprint in his community and with his family. He left his family a legacy of love and memories. He is survived by his daughter, John and Enriqueta (Henri) Lazo of Plano, Texas; grandchildren: Adrienne and Larry Lapomarda, Frisco, Texas, Mimi and Randy Rogers, Frisco, Texas, Carl and Kristi Lazo, Plano, Texas, and Monica and Michael Mongaras, Plano, Texas, great-grandchildren: Katie and Lauren Lapomarda, Frisco, Texas, Emily Mongaras, Plano, Texas, Austin Rogers, Frisco, Texas, and soon to come Matthew Mongaras; his sister, John and Dora Silva, Houston, Texas, brother-in-law, Frank Lozano, sister-in-law, Ruth Lozano and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home, 6123 Garth Rd., Baytown, Texas. Rosary will be recited that evening at 7:00 p.m. Celebration of the funeral liturgy will be Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4015 Sherman, Houston, Texas. Burial and military honors will be Friday, December 2, 2005 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Cemetery, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas. Local arrangements have been entrusted to
