MARILYN HOFFMAN Obituary

MARILYN W. HOFFMAN passed away peacefully at home on the evening of April 13, 2010, after an extended illness. Marilyn was born at home in Kansas City, Mo on July 21, 1933, and moved to San Antonio as a teenager. Mom graduated from Alamo Heights High School, and attended the University Of Texas. While at UT, she pledged, as a legacy, Alpha Phi sorority, one of her sorority sisters, Susie Hoffman became close friends and introduced mom to our dad, Carl Hoffman. She fell and stayed madly in love with him until her very last breath. Mom and Aunt Susie remained best friends her entire life.Mom & Dad were married in San Antonio in 1954. They began their lives in San Antonio, and moved around Texas, settling in Houston in 1964. During this phase in her life she flew the Powder Puff Derby from Houston to Calgary and back. She loved people and it was natural she went to work for her two older sons, Carl & Kurt in their endeavors, and loved nothing more than helping people decorate their new kitchens, and bathrooms. She just loved being around her kids and cats. After dad died, her youngest son moved back to Houston, and she had fun sharing her home with Eric, watching TV, discussing politics, as she was a staunch Democrat, and loving her pussy cats. Her daughter, Holly, was her best friend and they shared many an adventure and in later years enjoyed Sundays just being together.Mom is predeceased by her husband, Carl Sr., parents, Dud & Irma Dell Whitehill, infant sister, Anndudley Whitehill. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Carl & Raquel, Kurt & Ruth, Holly & Debra, and Eric. Grandchildren, who named her Gaga, are: Jodi, Jessica, Blake, Sam, Cameron and Isabella. Hasnain, and most of all Dr. Anatoli Krasko who became such a special friend to mom. To the folks at A-Med hospice, and her friends Bernice and Sam, thank you for all your love, compassion and care.Donations to Houston SPCA 900 Portway, Houston, Houston, TX 77024 may be sent in order to further moms passion about taking care of God's critters. I met Marilyn through Holly about 25 years ago and she was the sweetest woman who was loved by so many. I have not seen her or Holly in many, many years, but I feel the sorrow of Holly and her brothers' loss. I am thinking of you all and keeping you in my prayers. With great sympathy, Regina (Fales) Norris.

Much love and sympathy to Marilyn's family and friends. An extraordinary woman - ahead of her time - race car driver - airplane pilot - mom to four and the glue that held it all together.
