Mark Joiner Obituary
1971-2021
On October 17, 2021 a "Free Spirit" left this earth to spread his love and kindness to another world. No matter what you called him: "Marky Mark", "Snuggi" or "Marky Poo", if you called him Friend you were one of the lucky ones. Mark was born in Houston, Texas and grew up in Cypress, Texas. He graduated from Cy-Fair High School and after two years in The Houston Art Institute Mark broke the bonds of structure and moved to Austin to pursue his desire to create beautiful and unique Glass Work. In 2009 Mark found Austin to be "too busy" and moved to New Braunfels, Texas where he continued his glass artwork and also became a talented chef. Mark embraced New Braunfels and the many people he met and befriended there. His infectious personality, kindness and amazing talents will be missed.
Mark is survived by his Partner-In-Life, Sandi Shahan; parents, Judy and Grady Joiner as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. There will be a brief Celebration of Mark's life at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. In honor of Mark, please dress casual. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Goldthwaite Music Festival – www.thegmf.com or to the New Braunfels Community Cat Coalition – www.nbcats.org. Way back in the day, I got to know mark a little bit when I rented studio space from Marti Johnson in Spicewood. I would marvel at Mark's glass work especially the belt buckles. He was a kind soul and a joyful man. Learn better off having known him. I am a curator at a museum in San Angelo and was showing a friend Mark's work when I learned of his passing. I remember his dog but don't remember it's name... He loved that dog and the dog loved him. I know he is missed. Please know that he had a posistive impact on me even though we intersected only briefly. With much love and respect and my condolences.
